Little girls with 99 lives ~ Ingrid Chavez ~ 09 . 08 . 2009

The four songs written and recorded by David Sylvian and Ingrid Chavez in the mid to late 90's, which were previously only available on the b-sides of various singles released by Virgin Records, are collected here for the first time. Available in a new digipak designed by Sylvian and, in keeping with some of the intimate themes addressed in the material, the artwork features images of Ingrid as a young girl. Each copy is signed and numbered by both Sylvian and Chavez and this pressing is strictly limited to 1000. There will be no reprinting of the edition once it has sold out.

The edition is released on Ingrid's '10 Windows' imprint and is available exclusively from the DGM store. Watch a video of 'Remembering Julia' directed by Marzio Mirabella below.

EXTENDED LINER NOTES FROM THE ALBUM

There were so many people that helped bring this record to the light of day. Having made the decision to print on recycled paper, I kept the wording on the actual album to a minimum. There were so many people that I wanted to thank for their time and energy so I have decided to thank them here ››

THE INVISIBLE SIDE OF THINGS . 01 . 26 . 2010
AN INTERVIEW WITH LORENZO SCOPELLITI BY JESSE HAYES

If we are fortunate, in our lifetime we will cross paths with one of those individuals for whom everything is an artistic endeavor. Not in some sort of prententious over intellectualized way but simply because that is the only way they know how to do a thing. Lorenzo Scopelliti is one of those rare spirits with whom I have had the pleasure of sharing drink and conversation. An Italian artist with several independent releases of ambient compositions under the pseudonym Saffron Woods, Lorenzo is multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer and generally delightful noise maker of the highest order who has collaborated with a number of talent Italian artists, including reknown engineer: Alessandro Mazzitelli...

BY THE WATER . SINGLE RELEASE . 09 . 08 . 2009

By The Water is the first single released from Ingrid Chavez's long awaited full length album A Flutter And Some Words, the follow up to her debut album May 19, 1992 released on Paisley Park Records. Simultaneously ethereal and accessible, By The Water is a catchy slice of eclectic contemporary soul textured with hypnotic drums and brushes of acoustic guitar and trumpet. Ingrid's innocent yet sensual vocals, that her fans have come to expect, are as strong as ever and the songs rich and evolving production will have listeners enchanted from the beginning.

By The Water's accompanying music video is equally captivating. Shot near Ingrid's home by Italian filmmaker Marzio Mirabella, this beautiful video draws the viewer into Ingrid's dream-like world in much the same way as the music. View the video below.

OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY . 09 . 08 . 2009

Blissfully solitary in a white room with ten windows overlooking the shifting seasons of New England landscapes and skyways, Ingrid Chavez has been weaving intimate words into dreamtime poetry and song. There was no intended outcome for these creations…no record company breathing down her neck to meet a “deadline.” Rather, these writings are a lifeline – a seamless thread of artful diary wiled into existence simply because this is what she does. Ingrid's ideas, memories, musings, and visions always find their way from pen to paper, often accompanied by wistful melodies waiting to be breathed into life by the intimate Zen whisper of her voice. Now those pieces are ready to be shared as A Flutter and Some Words – 14 spellbinding glimpses into the soul of a uniquely gifted woman...

EL PERDIDO INTERVIEW BY INGRID CHAVEZ . 09 . 08 . 2009

El Perdido's original artwork is featured on the cover of A Flutter And Some Words. Following is the first in a series of artist to artist interviews that will be featured on this website. In September we will feature Lorenzo Scopelliti interviewed by Jesse Hayes.

I first discovered El Perdido’s artwork this past winter when he sent me a message via Myspace asking if I would be interested in selling (or trading) a print from my 'Beauty in Chaos' photographs that are on display on my Myspace Music page. This is a series of photographs taken in the aftermath of the ice storm that had devastated the small town that I live in here in the northeast last December. When I first saw his work on his Myspace page I was immediately drawn to his faded polaroids of dreamy landscapes. I also really loved his ink paintings, every bit as evocative as his polaroids.
