By the Water - Ingrid Chavez - 2009 - Expand ››
i'm layin' back
thinking about that day
by the water
where i let you in
i said come on come on come on come on baby
i'm layin' back
thinking about that day
by the water
where you let me in
you said come on come on come on come on baby
it was early may
the day was warm
we were still brand new
there was trouble in the air
but it had nothing to do
with me and you
so we walked
hand in hand
past the pine trees and
the ferns unfurling
looking for a place to lay
to clear our minds
and change the energy of the day
our backs against the ground
we listened to the sound
of the wind upon the water
we stole a moment to remember
the wonders of this love and life
i'm layin' back
thinking about that day
by the water
where i let you in
i said come on come on come on come on baby
i'm layin' back
thinking about that day
by the water
where you let me in
you said come on come on come on come on baby
you said come on come on come on come on baby
you said come on come on come on come on baby
was it the water
was it the air
was it the scent
of dried leaves caught in my hair
i don't know and i don't care
the earth in your skin
the moon in your lips
the stars in your fingertips
left nothing unexplored
siete il mio amore
beneath the canopy of trees
you set my soul free
you said come on baby fly with me
i'm layin' back
thinking about that day
by the water
where you let me in
our backs against the ground
we listened to the sound
of the wind upon the water
we stole a moment to remember
the wonders of this love and life
era ... acqua
era forse... aria
o.... il particolare profumo della terra
era terra... sulla tua pelle
vieni con me baby ....vola con me
cammina con me...

crickets
or just the hum of slow space
purling and murmuring,
night creeps in
shuffling it's weighted feet,
dragging the cold air in
from the dew dropped fields.
her
little body shifts next to mine,
she has left me here alone
in my white noise,
face all aglow,
waiting for sleep
to swallow me up
and deliver me.

i wish that there were no strings that led you to me
just that I was a pinhole of light
that you happened upon one night
snow and ink.

driving on colburn rd. crossing the wilton line listening to ‘Skinny Love' by Bon Iver almost hit a pickup truck on a sharp bend in the road birchwood trees the milky white of frozen ponds and the deep shadows stretched across the road it's hard not to wander.
“I tell my love to wreck it all
cut out all the ropes and let me fall
my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
right in the moment this order's tall
“ the sky is “sinatra blue” there's no one pulling on me the road is open and i'm alone in the womb of my car she plays songs that make me feel greater than this moment and i am singing…
“I told you to be patient
I told you to be fine
I told you to be balanced
I told you to be kind”
“Come on skinny love what happened here
suckle on the hope in light brassiere
my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
sullen load is full, so slow on the split”
I could have gone deeper swept a bit wider scraped a little harder at the wounds and left a little blood behind
it's not too late.
“my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
staring at the sink of blood and crushed vaneer”
I will sink my teeth in next time and make it bleed and everyone will know I was just protecting him
this time.

I first discovered El Perdido’s artwork this past winter when he sent me a message via Myspace asking if I would be interested in selling (or trading) a print from my 'Beauty in Chaos' photographs that are on display on my Myspace Music page. This is a series of photographs taken in the aftermath of the ice storm that had devastated the small town that I live in here in the northeast last December. When I first saw his work on his Myspace page I was immediately drawn to his faded polaroids of dreamy landscapes. I also really loved his ink paintings, every bit as evocative as his polaroids.
